Materi Tes Bahasa Inggris Tenses

Tenses merupakan jenis kata kerja yang digunakan dalam Bahasa Inggris yang dipengaruhi oleh 2 hal yaitu aktivitas dan waktu. Tidak seperti Bahasa Indonesia yang kata kerjanya sama meskipun dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas dan waktu. Dalam Bahasa Inggris mengenal 2 faktor tersebut yang menyebabkan kata kerja yang digunakan berubah.

Pengaruh aktivitas dalam kata kerja Bahasa Inggris :

Jenis	Penjelasan
Perfect	Aktivitas telah berakhir.
Simple	Aktivitas yang sudah biasa atau umum terjadi.
Continuous	Aktivitas yang sedang berlangsung.
Perfect Continuous	Aktivitas sudah terjadi dan masih berlangsung.

Pengaruh waktu dalam kata kerja Bahasa Inggris :

Jenis	Penjelasan
Past	Aktivitas yang terjadi pada masa lampau.
Present	Aktivitas yang terjadi pada saat sekarang.
Future	Aktivitas yang terjadi pada masa yang akan datang.
Past Future	Aktivitas yang diprediksikan atau sebuah janji.

Akibat 2 faktor tersebut menyebabkan masing-masing kata kerja dibedakan menjadi 4 jenis, hal tersebut membuat kata kerja dalam Bahasa Inggris cukup lumayan banyak yaitu terdapat 16 jenis kata kerja antara lain :

Akan tetapi dalam sejarah soal PKN STAN yang pernah keluar tipe Past Future jarang keluar maka oleh karena itu, kita akan pelajari selain Past Future yaitu sebanyak 12 tenses.

Past Tenses

1. Past Perfect Tense,
Past Perfect Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sudah selesai di masa lampau.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Tenses digunakan sesudah kata after atau as soon as atau until (S+V2 after/as soon as/until S+had+v3).
Tenses digunakan sebelum kata before atau when (S+had+V3, before/when S+V2).
Terdapat kata just atau already.

Rumus : Subject + had + V3

Contoh :

Zeyeng cooked food after she had bought from the market.
Rizki had studied hard before he passed the SPMB test.
Bae had cleaned the room already.

2. Past Simple Tense,
Past Simple Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang terjadi pada masa lampau.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata yesterday, last night, last Sunday, last week, last month, last year, an hour ago, two hour ago, in 1999, atau the day before yesterday.

Rumus : Subject + V2

Contoh :

I went to Jakarta with my father last month.
My father cleaned his car two hour ago.
My mother bought a fan the day before yesterday.

3. Past Continuous Tense,
Past Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sedang berlangsung pada masa lampau.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Tenses digunakan apabila dalam keadaan when+S+V2, S+was/were+Ving,
Terdapat kata at 5 o'clock, all day yesterday, atau at this time yesterday.

Rumus : Subject + was/were + Ving

Contoh :

When the teacher came, the pupils weren't cheating.
She was swimming at 8 a.m yesterday.

4. Past Perfect Continuous Tense,
Past Perfect Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sudah berlangsung dan masih berlangsung pada masa lampau.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Tenses digunakan apabila dalam keadaan when/before+S+V2, S+had+been+Ving,

Tenses digunakan apabila dalam keadaan after+S+had+been+Ving, S+V2,

Terdapat kata by last month, by last week, atau by last year.

Rumus : S+had+been+Ving

Contoh :

Before Siti dried her clothes, she had been washing her clothes.
Candra studied hard after he had been playing games.
Nesya had been passing the test by last week.

Present Tenses

1. Present Perfect Tense,
Present Perfect Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sudah berakhir pada masa sekarang.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata already, recently, just, yet, atau finally.

Rumus : S+have/has+V3

Contoh :

Finally, I have passed from this school.

2. Present Simple Tense,
Present Simple Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang terjadi pada saat ini atau dapat berupa fakta atau kebiasaan.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, never, rarely, every day, frequently, steadly, regularly, generally, atau normally.

Rumus : S+V1(s/es)

Contoh :

I usually go to school at 7 in the morning.

3. Present Continuous Tense,
Present Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sedang berlangsung pada saat ini.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata now, at present, at this moment, right now, still, atau at this time.

Rumus : S+is/am/are+Ving

Contoh :

At this time, my mother is cooking food in the kitchen.

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense,
Present Perfect Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sudah berlangsung dan tetap berlangsung sampai saat ini.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata for, since, long, atau all morning.

Rumus : S+have/has+been+Ving

Contoh :

His father has been going to Jakarta for a week.

Future Tense

1. Future Perfect Tense,
Future Perfect Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sudah selesai pada masa yang akan datang.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata by next day, by next week, by next month, by the end of this month, by the end of this year, atau by next year.

Rumus : S+will/shall+have+V3

Contoh :

The pupils will have finished their task by next week.

2. Future Simple Tense,
Future Simple Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang akan terjadi pada masa yang akan datang.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata tomorrow, next day, next week, next month, next year, soon, atau tonight.

Rumus : S+will/shall+V1

Contoh :

I will visit my grandmother next week.

3. Future Continuous Tense,
Future Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang akan sedang berlangsung pada masa yang akan datang.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :

Terdapat kata at the same time, at 7 o'clock tomorrow, atau at this time tomorrow.

Rumus : S+will/shall+be+Ving

Contoh :

The tax collector will be collecting the SPT 1770 form at this time tomorrow.

4. Future Perfect Continuous Tense,
Future Perfect Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan aktivitas yang sudah berlangsung pada masa yang akan datang.

Ciri-ciri menggunakan tenses ini :
